A while back, I bought a fizz giz, a home carbonating kit. Your the carbonating device, standard size soda caps, and then you just need an empty soda bottle.
The other day, I was watching a YouTube video on food science, and it refreshed my memory about the glycoprotein: miraculin. Miraculin works by cooling around the sweet receptors in the tongue, and the contact in the presence of acid. Basically, sour things taste sweet. This will last for a half hour to an hour. I'd bought some miraculin tablets a while back, dug them out, and was playing around with them last night and the night before.
This morning, i took lemon juice, tap water, mixed them in an empty pop bottle, and carbonated it. Then i let the miraculin dissolve on my tongue. The result: a low calorie, almost too sweet, lemon soda-pop.
It's a little nerdy, but simple minds, simple pleasures!
