Vacuum liquids
Nadav_201166
Hey!
I have a little question:
How do i vacuum seal a bag that contains liquids, such as cognac, milk and marinade...
I have a little vacuum machine that can't seal bags with liquid. Any tricks?

Nature of the beast. You can close with an edge sealer, but there's always a risk of pulling just that little bit of the liquid through and not getting a proper closure. In any event, it will never be a full vacuum.
I'd recommend just using the displacement method, but there might be another poster with a useful life hack for this issue.

freeze liquids or use the displacement method: put your product in a ziplock bag and fill something large enough to hold said bagged product in with water. zip bag closed until just a corner is still open and push bag into water so that the water pressure forces air out (check all around to eliminate bubbles). zip bag closed. test to see if it floats (=still has air). repeat until air is out.

Freeze is best choice (if possible). Lay on a flat surface to make a really thin frozen layer (e.g.baking sheet). To speed the process up you can spray the bottom side with up-turn key board cleaner (see hestins flocking chocolate). Won't freeze it instantly but on a baking sheet after that's placed in the freezer it will only be a few min. Nor necessary but panic breeds thought.

I too would recommend the displacement method but if you have a Food Saver, they make special bags with sponges at the top so you can use liquids (or you could make your own by placing dried, unused sponges at the top of the bag).
