Noise level of Creative Immersion Circulator?
douglas_bd
I'm getting ready to make the jump from an adhoc rig (Big pot on the stove w/ temp probe and constant burner vigilance: +/- ~2.0 C.) to a real set up. Leaning towards the Creative series IC, but am curious about the noise level in a home setup due to the pump motor. I am concerned about a constant hum coming from the (open) kitchen whenever it's in use. Also considered the SV Supreme which has no pump, but is smaller, less accurate (it has no pump), and not really portable.

Hi Brian:
The pump does make some noise, but it's not too loud. If you're house is dead quite, you'll here it. But during a dinner party, you won't notice it.
The Sous Vide Supreme is, of course, quieter. And I think they work fine, although they are much less flexible than the PolyScience units since you cannot attach them to different sized containers when you need to.
I'm a bit biased since we sell the PolyScience units to pay for the cost of running ChefSteps, but I think you would be happy with the Creative Series unit.

I've got my kitchen adjacent my living room, and regularly watch TV without hearing the creative series going along... The only noise I hear is actually the kitties circulating water bowl.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. This helps with the decision. I think I'll probably go with the Creative. I believe in the end it will be more versatile than the Supreme. It's a significant investment, and the more flexibility I can get out of it, the happier I'll be. I hadn't considered that the creative has a smaller pump than the chef series and should be quieter, so thanks for that insight victorwol.

It also has a lesser volume rating, I'd not count that much on noise.

Placed my order for the Creative series....now I'm just anxiously awaiting the arrival.

Arrived yesterday...surprisingly fast shipping! Just set it up today...temporary set up to try it out. My initial impression is the noise is not an issue. It does produce some noise if you are standing right over it listening, but a couple feet away it is almost nonexistent. In the next room at the moment and I can't even hear it. After a little more time (and use when the house is quiet) I'll share more of my thoughts, but for now noise seems like a non-issue. Thanks everyone. Looking forward to dinner tonight!

Thanks for the update! Glad you're happy, and what're you making for dinner?
