convince me why this is better then Anova plz..

HI, I saw this on a youtube vid.. Did some search and came up with Anova.. So, I never used this or heard of this water cooking device.. Why is this more $$$ then the Anova?

The only reason I can't decide is that this body looks like plastic.. and the Anova is stainless steel looking..

Some one plz help me decide.. I'm new to this.. prefer some one that used or have both devices..

I have an Anova as do many of the people here. The specifications for Joule far exceed it. The main issue I have had with the Anova is that it takes a long time to get up to and maintain the higher temperatures. My next sous vide will be a Joule, in fact I may not wait that long. IMHO from what I have learned about Joule it is the way to go.

Btw, Why do I see different prices for this Joule? this webstie says $225.. and other website I found said its $199.. and some other place said it will be priced at $299.. Is this device not available yet?

also, in this website..I saw some comments about premium members? We need to buy this and get a premium membership for cooking tips on the App?

I believe premium membership is included and many of us here have the anova (me and John included) and have ordered the Joule. There will be two apps as I understand it (you will have both). One to drive the Joule and another that is available now with recipes and techniques etc. If you see different prices, I have no idea why, but I would get the least expensive as long as it is a Joule. ;-)

There is a lot of technology that goes into this device. You can check out the specs and what have you here: https://www.chefsteps.com/joule. The Anova is also plastic. the metal that you see is just a thin removable sleeve to house the impeller, heat coil, and thermometer probe. I own an anova, and it is a good unit, but what ChefSteps has created with the Joule is a workhorse. Both units have their merit, but do not just make your judgement solely on price. Good Luck!

It's more $$$ then other Sous Vide circulators for the same reason that a Mercedes Benz is more money than a chevy. The materials it's constructed from are premium. The technology it contains is superior, and the app is better researched and designed. There's a reason it's taking so long for Joule to reach the market, it's been tested, tweaked, and tested again, then tweaked again and tested again, etc. etc.

The body of the Joule is formed from extruded polycarbonate, and the top and the foot are 316L stainless steel. Not all stainless steel is created equally. The molybdenum used to create 316L stainless steel gives it better overall corrosion resistant properties than standard stainless steel, with higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It’s structure gives 316L stainless steel incredible toughness, even when used down to cryogenic temperatures. By comparison several people on the Anova forum have complained about their unit apparently rusting. Did I mention that not all stainless steel is created equally? Don’t get me wrong, I like Anova, but then Joule came along and set the standard. I'm sure you will love your Joule not only when you first use it, but also many years down the road, because it's designed to last because it's simply built better, and that is why it cost more, but worth every penny.
