Tank for sous vide cooking with Joule

I am looking for a tank for sous vide cooking and do not want to buy one where I cannot use my Joule when it is shipped to me. Would someone know wether a "polycarbonate tank for immersion circulators" from PolyScience will be a good fit for Joule? Thinking mostly about the angle of the sides.

I know they are planning to offer several clip styles. I saw the prototype large clip working on a Yeti cooler, and it would certainly work on a Cambro (like the PolyScience tank). The stock clip that I used in my user test wouldn't entirely fit on the edge of a Cambro, but you could take it off, and the unit could stand in the tank. Also, the clip that I got a chance to use would work on most any pot I can think of, and most of the thinner walled polycarbonate containers.

You can see what I mean here for the stock clip. It probably won't expand to the inch or so that a Cambro requires... But again, I believe there are other clip plans, and alternatives (such as standing it in the tank). And on the thinner walled Cambros, again, they work great out of the box.

That was another thing I was going to suggest. Get a slug of something magnetic and stick it to the bottom of the Cambro. As usual, @HammeredChef_DEFINITELY_does_NOT_work_at_22134 and you beat me with your winespiration!

The containers that ChefSteps are using in their test bed are LIPAVI containers and the cut out lids have the cut out for the Nomiku (see @Max_Foster_18996 's photo below) Kevin Finke, one of the engineers, showed me that the Joule is so bottom heavy that with the cutout top you really don't even need to use a clip. Amazon has the LIPAVI containers and lids.

And you could also put a flat piece of magnetic metal under your container and still get enough pull to hold it in place.

Here is a picture of the cooler clip being used in huge Yeti cooler. ChefSteps was cooking ribs in the cooler.

Hey, I'll give you first billing, "The Hammered-Fish©" method. Hammered-Fish (noun)= An ingenious inexpensive method to secure Joule in a container thought up at 2AM with the help of a bit of winespiration. @Max_Foster_18996 that line was just to good not to steal it, lol.

One of the big value ads of Joule that I didn't appreciate until seeing it in person is that I no longer have to take up four square feet of counter space with a 5-gallon Cambro food box anymore. Since the water draw is from the bottom of the unit you can use it in much smaller vessels. So I put a Dutch oven on the poxy simmer burner on my range (which rarely gets used, anyway), and I've suddenly got extra prep space.

And if you leave the outflow vent above the surface of the water in the container, you end up with a nice and calming water feature for your kitchen, quietly burbling away.

Joule is so quiet that the water is all you would hear. Can't say that about my current circulator.

Thanks for all the ideas. I already have a sous vide extreme and expect to use that one mainly for long term high temp stuff like pulled pork, where are close lid is practical. I will not use the 16-24L polycarbonate tank for doing every day stuff. Thats gonne be stored outside of the kitchen and only used for larger objects like whole sides, legs of lamb (bone-in), whole fish (I know this is suggested as a no-go but I really need to try and test some myself) or or prep for barbeque parties with large quantities of beef/pork/steak.

I will definitely prefer a clear polycarbonate tank and will in those cases have to live with excess heat emission from the tank.

Since the tank might be too tall for the placing the joule at the buttom, I need to be sure it works ok be placed at an angle in the tank (not completely vertical).

Since I live in Denmark, my options are a bit more limited than what you have in the states, but so far I have found 2:

1 - Polyscience http://shop5634.hstatic.dk/upload_dir/shop/acc-polycarbonate-tank-for-immersion-circulators.png can be used with balls: 16L L400 cm x W250 x H220mm

I think either would work, if you were comfortable modifying the rim of the tank slightly, or if Chefsteps has their expanded clip available for launch.
