Hi everybody - this is my first post, so go easy.
I recently picked up a good deal on a secondhand centrifuge (IEC Centra MP4R spinning bucket (4 x 250ml)) and I'm working though my ideas to clean it thoroughly before use. I was told by the seller (a dealer for disposal of used equipment) that it had a certificate detailing full decontamination with IPA (iso-propyl alcohol I assume) but I have no point of reference as to the thoroughness or adequacy of this. For my purposes, I'm going to assume it is not adequate enough, but I don't know by how much. For what it is worth, I intend to only spin in bottles, although the bottles for this model are no longer available, but some of the Thermo Scientific look like they will fit snugly. In an ideal world, this is my gateway centrifuge until the Booker and Dax model is available.
Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone had thoughts on the best way to clean it. I'm thinking a combination of cleaning with bleach, ethanol and pressure cooking the rotor and buckets and then maybe doing it all again several times. I'm aware that bleach can corrode the metal components - but I'm unclear if the issue is related to a single bleaching or repeated occasions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
best
