How loud is Joule?

I love my Polyscience circulator, but one thing I don't love about it is its noise level. It's not that it's loud per se... just that it's loud enough that there's a constant whirring in the kitchen whenever it's on. It's loud enough that I can hear it pumping away in the next room. Not a big deal if you're just cooking steaks, but mildly annoying if you're doing a 48 or 72 hour cook. Given that Joule has a max bath capacity of 10 gallons, and that the Polyscience Professional has a max of only 8 gallons (both of which are plenty for my purposes) I'm wondering how loud the pump is in comparison.

It's all but silent. With the water intake in the bottom the only one I could even hear was where the outflow was at water level and then the only thing I could hear was the water. My Anova is much louder. Here is the quote from the specs, "Highly reliable and efficient, the motor spins a silent-running impeller that eliminates cavitation for powerful yet quiet water circulation."

Much, much quieter than my Polyscience. You cannot hear it.

Brandon, they showed us all the iterations of the impeller. There is a small ridge that eliminates cavitation to maintain total contact with the water without infusing air into the water flow. Meticulously engineered!

You might want to sell the Polsyci now before it burns up and melts itself (corrosion on wire connector to both poles of the heating element) and you get a quote from poly for repair that is the same prices as the msrp... I am very excited about the Joule.

Pretty much asked and answered, but when we were there they took us in a room that I think eight of them on a test bench. We were in the room a good couple minutes before I realized they were all running. The little bugger just doesn't make noise.

And to be fair, the Anova is hardly a noise box. It's about the same volume as the fridge, so it's something you can notice over the TV or in the background when speaking. But Joule is utterly silent.

If the Anova is Red October, then Joule the caterpillar drive. (Cavitation humor)
