Egg Smell
monyeliel
Hi Everyone,
I was wondering to know what is the most effective way for getting rid of egg smell on dishes?
I know vinegar can be used but i thought maybe chefstep scientist or any of members have a better scientific approach
.
Thanks,
NN.

If you're talking about cleaning plates and such, some bleach will definitely take care of that. If you're talking about food, I don't have an answer for you...

Egg smell? Sorry but I'm not sure what you are referring to.

A mixture of
pure
lemon juice and baking soda will work.
Give it time to work.
Rinse with white vinegar, then distilled water.

Sorry I forgot to mention that my intention was about cleaning plates and glasses which you had egg in it, especially when the egg has runny (raw) yolk.
Try this, put the fork that you used for having the egg in a glass for 5 minutes, then wash the glasses and drink some water in it. You will clearly notice the smell which is not pleasant, it smell like fresh water aquarium
.
I tried to find a way to get rid of the smell using dishwasher but no luck...bleech is a good idea, however i usually tend not to use it very much because of the storng effect.
Any comments from chefsteps team?

Here is an
article
that should help, the recommendation is to soak the dishes in hot soapy water and let the soap break down the protein-lipids before you wash them.
