Whats the benefit of a waring over vitamix or blendtec?

raw power

I have the Waring and my parents have a Vitamix 5200. In practice, I haven't found much difference between the two even though the Waring is technically rated to have more power. I think a lot of the wattage and horsepower comparisons are marketing nonsense and have little to do with real world performance. The main advantage of the Waring over the Vitamix is that you can get as good (and possibly slightly better) performance for less money. Both are high quality, commercial style blenders that will probably last you decades. The advantage of both the Vitamix and the Waring over the Blendtec is the interface. Most people I've talked to share my opinion that the "two paddle switches and a speed knob" interface is much better than having a blender with a menu system and membrane switches. The only reason to get a blender like that, really, is if you have a smoothie shop and you want to ensure that blending times are standardized. The fancier Vitamixes with the special programs for "smoothie" or "hot soup" are just a way to sell you the same basic product for a lot more money. The Blendtecs are cheaper, but I don't find them nearly as pleasant or easy to use as the Waring or the mid-range Vitamix.
The one advantage the Vitamix has over the Waring is the tamper. Waring says that their blender jar was designed so that you'll never need a tamper, and this is a lie. Sometimes you're blending something that's so thick or so cold and icy that you end up with the blades spinning in a big cavitation bubble at the bottom. Luckily a company called Alternajar makes a universal blender tamper that's $15 and works well with the Waring. I suggest that to everyone who gets the MX1200XTX.

I love my Vitamix! The dry container and the wet.
