For those of you who are chomping at the bit to get started with sous vide, as I am, maybe instead of being so frustrated with Joule, that you just make an alternative plan. Many of you own other units that you can use in the delivery delay. I happen to be one that does not. I have read every recipe I can find and am ready to go. Still no idea when the Joule will arrive.
When reading all the posts (and between the lines), I would suspect you have no received any news on delivery because there is no news. If CS has run into a "glitch", manufacturing will have not even started I would guess. No manufacturer, unless it is a tiny shop operation, is going to start building units when 1 piece of that unit is not even approved. Think about it. If you were building these, would you want to put out all the money to build them, minus 1 component, and have all your money tied up in semi-complete items that can't be sold.
The irony to all this is that to me, I put the blue-tooth aspect of the Joule in the negative column. I do not like that. Phones are filthy things that I do not like to handle when I'm cooking. My hands are often not the cleanest either. I was initially drawn to other units that DID NOT have remote controls. I just wanted the unit to be a unit I could set to a certain temperature, set a timer, and have a unit reliable enough to know that it would be super temperature accurate and would still be running when I came back. It was the last 2 reasons I selected the Joule.
Given that I don't believe the manufacturing of the Joule has even started, in the absence of information from CS and knowledge of the manufacturing process, I would suggest that if you are "chomping on the bit" as I am, that you just buy a "back up" unit while waiting for your Joule to arrive. Someone mentioned below in this blog that the Anova is selling for $169.00 on Amazon right now (or at least yesterday). Someone in another blog found one on sale for $115.00 for Father's Day.
Just my suggestion. Don't get mad a CS. If there was any way for them to have sent them out last month, they would have done so. It is in their interest. If they had any information with respect to manufacturing/delivery date, they would have done so. That is also in their interest. Know that the Joule will arrive when it can be and appreciate all the other information you can get from CS. Enough said and smile.
