What do YOU think of Diners?

If you've signed up for our weekly "This Week at ChefSteps" newsletter, this week you would've read about some our thoughts on diners—who likes them, who hates them (yep, we've got a hater).

We were wondering what you all think of diners. Are they one of the best places to eat out at, no matter what stage of life you're in, even now, with prices sky high? Or are they places to be skipped, because you think you can do better than a pro short order cook on some scrambled eggs and bacon?

Also, if you're taking the time: What's your go-to diner order. Give us everything, including all your mods!

Love to eat at diners where they have a limited menu and execute with speed and skill and are open for the patrons to view. My go-to is very simple, poached eggs, bacon or sausage with hollandaise on the side.

I like your no-fear ordering style. Poached eggs and hollandaise are the ultimate test for a diner IMO—great when done right, but very small margins for error. I've been disappointed too many times by stiff-as-Hellmann's diner hollandaise to order Benny and the like at a greasy spoon, and usually play it safe with over easy eggs.

Forgot to include my go-to:

Corned beef hash, two eggs over medium, white toast, home fries, hot sauce on the side, and, like, 5 cups of coffee. (And a glass of water.)

Love diner food (prolly up there with my top 5 cuisines). I usually get something classic thats pecific to that region. PNW Eggs Benny with Salmon, Texas Brisket Scramble, NYC Ruben, etc.
