Aaron you didn't say which platform you're using, but Apples VoiceOver feature will help in many ways. See this page;

If, by chance, the app currently doesn't support screen reader software, I'm sure the good folks at ChefSteps are already looking for ways to add it. For development information on how to do that see this page;

Hi there,
Sorry for the late reply on this. To be honest, we're not happy with the screen reader experience for the Joule app, so I cannot recommend it for the visually impaired. VoiceOver is supported--and works--but certain aspects about the way the app is written mean that the VoiceOver experience is sub-optimal. However, improving this is something we're interested in looking at in the future.
