China Sieves
giulioromano85
I found this auction on ebay:
http://www.ebay.it/itm/R5-10-20-30cm-20mesh-200mesh-SS-Standard-Test-Sieve-Laboratory-sieve-/262411931102?var=&hash=item3d18f84dde:m:moRvya21ju1pj8G-qLsTj4g
The sieves are very cheap, what do you think guys?
Could they be good?

They've blurred out the labels on the pictures, not sure if that's a good sign. So cheap though and free shipping. Anyone remember what mesh sizes ChefSteps recommended to buy?
tshewman
30cm - 250 micron, a 125 micron, and a 75 micron

Thanks

if you gett'm let me know how they work. I've beaten the crap out of the one I have.

At that price point even if they don't hold up its still a good deal 😊 Is the shipping free from Italy? That is eBay Italy, right?
robmcquarrie
The link is to ebay Italy but the item is from China.

Just as an FYI, the ChefSteps team purchases all of our sieves via

romano just got the sieve,
#80
it actually seems to be of decent construction and the mesh is extremely tight......I just ran some mayo thru and pushed hard...seems fine....the question is will it rust. I left it slightly damp and we shall see.... I will buy more immediately...

I have an order coming sometime in August...
lfmichaud
Received my order. Six sieves and a bottom pan. They included a cover for free. I wouldn't have paid much for it.
They are all marked in US standard and metric. (Chinese too!)
The construction seems ok but I never tried the affordablesieves.
They are greasy and smell like a machine shop. Seems like a good buy but we'll see after using them a bit.
@HammeredChef
how was the cleaning test? I was planning to put everything in the dishwasher and dry them in the oven for the first time.
robmcquarrie
Are you ordering by mesh or mm? Their picture of the sizes doesn't seem to match standard mesh sizes. For example they list mesh 60 as 0.3mm but everywhere else mesh 50 is 0.3mm.
giulioromano85
So do they make rust?
HammeredChef_DEFINITELY_does_NOT_work_at_22134
I have 3 now and after over a month I don't see any rust at all
giulioromano85
So It's a very good bargain
