Blender for crushing dry ice

Hi,

I've been making ice cream with dry ice for some time, but need a good and fast method of crushing the pallets (I'm using a hammer now). I've tried crushing it in a blender, but the container broke (it was made of glass).

The question is: do you have any recommendations or advices for a good blender, that could crush dry ice? What brand should I look for? What container material? Motor? Power? Etc. Any experiences with crushing dry ice in a blender?

I have no idea what i decent blender costs, but I hope to keep expenses low.

My Waring makes easy work of dry ice. Several folks in the community use the Waring. I heartily endorse the Webstaurant store (company in the link above). I am just a customer, but they have excellent communication and service.

+1 for the Waring. Pro blenders are expensive compared to lower end models, but the power and build quality more than make up for it. Vitamixes can handle it as well. If you keep your eyes out, you can get a good deal on refurbished units. Just be sure to get one with a speed control.

I live in Denmark, and can't find this model, but there are others from Waring. If this model the best value for money, I'll find a way.

I can't speak for other brands or models. I have a slightly older (maybe 2 - 3 years) version of the one in my link. It's the first "pro-level" blender I've owned. It's a beast and it's been flawless.

I just used a food processor last weekend for dry ice, it worked fine.

If I were you I'll go with Ovente Electric Blender because it has high quality blades and speed control. Been using mine for almost 3 years and it's still fine.
