How to separate buttermilk?

Hello,
I want to use the whey of the buttermilk but what is the best way to get it? Cooking till 90 degrees, wait till something happen (lol) and pass them trough a cheesecloth?

Buttermilk whey isn't from buttermilk, today's buttermilk really isn't true buttermilk or the whey left from the butter making process. True buttermilk is whey, it is the remaining liquid left in the process of turning or churning cream into butter. So if you need whey, get some cream and make butter. If you really want to try to get a whey from cultured butter milk you will need to heat it and add an acid (lemon juice or vinegar) or rennet to get the fat to coagulate and then strain out the solid particles.
