New mortar and pestle

Got me a 7" mortar and pestle.
Anything I can do to season it before I use it. I've been reading alot but what actually works??

First of all, congratulations! A mortar and pestle is a great tool.
This is only one opinion among many, but I don't remember seasoning mine beyond giving it a good wash (no soap) and pounding a bit of salt in it on the assumption that'd remove whatever grit was there from the manufacturing process. I haven't noticed grit or off flavours irrespective of what I've bashed to pieces in it. I can't think of a logical reason why grinding away at a special blend of chillies, garlic, coriander or magic dust would help it. It's a big-ass block of stone. Abuse it with impunity.

I have a couple of them, one large and a small. I've had the for years and never did anything more than give them a good wash. Mine are from Thailand, maybe yours are different?

Oh nice! Looks great. Mine's granite too, you should be fine.
