Polyscience Professional + Joule

Hi. For those that already have a Polyscience Professional and are purchasing Joule, I am curious to see what are your plan for using Joule. With the promo going, I am tempted to buy one but having a hard time justifying why I would when I know that my Poly is the main workhorse for any application I am doing. Beside of getting another sv as backup (Joule or other brand), wondering what are you thoughts and plans on deciding when to use one rather than the other one when cooking sv.

Others with other brand, please feel free to chime in as well.

For me its nice to have another unit for doing things that require different temperatures and also very handy to have another unit if the first one is going on a long cook, 24-72 hrs. If I want some chicken I can fire up the other unit for an hour or two to cook the chicken or a steak or burger ....

I have an Anova and have ordered two Joules. Like @Jack_Mayer_85396 I have something going on all the time and if you are doing a dinner party of any size having more than one circulator is a must. I have always had two and am looking forward to three. I plan on a Game of Thrones Pig Party and figure to do it right, the pig alone will take two...BUT, pay no attention to me 'cause I drink a LOT of wine...

My plan is to sell my Polyscience Pro after Joule gets here... and then maybe buy another Joule. I love my Polyscience, but the sucker's loud. Not super loud... but hearing that whurrrrrrr for 72 hours straight is mildly bothersome. Joule is basically silent, is rated for 2 more gallons of capacity, can go 8F degrees hotter, is smaller, easier to store, can work in smaller vessels, and apparently heats up faster (if the reports are to be believed). And it's much cheaper. And it has wifi and Bluetooth and an integrated app. So.... Yeah. I'm going to hold onto the Polyscience for a while until I put Joule through its paces, but it looks like it will be better in virtually every respect. Which is exciting, since you can get four of them for the price of the Polyscience (going by retail prices).

My polysci is going on the shelf for backup, or when needed for a second bath. Joule is just going to be a better daily-use tool...size...control...lack of noise. ...

Ditto on everyone's comments. I like my Anova a great deal, but the Joule seems too awesome to pass up and having the ability to run two baths at once is compelling. Assuming that I can actually get my hands on a Joule tomorrow, I'm thinking that it will finally be time to start making DIY yogurt with the first bath set at 82C and the second bath set at 43C. Suh-weet.

Hi Minh, this was one of the main reasons I hesitated, but found out I'll use both the PS and the Joule. Essentially I love the long cooks and both with handle them well, while the other can handle whatever else I throw at it. Joule has smaller footprint and just as much power, so for me it will depend on the space I'l need for any particular cook as well. I'm actually probably going to hop on a second joule. Cuz we all need 3 don't we? :-)

Thanks everyone. I totally concurred re: secondary unit for other temp. cooking. I just got used to only one unit and manage all my cooking that way. But I won't lie cause deep down I know that a second one would be awesome for side dishes. Last big feast I did with a friend, we had 4 going and made it much easier. (1 pro mine, 1 pro from my buddy and we borrowed 2 anova 1st and 2nd gen.) - see picture below.

I am usually not an early adopter but with this deal coming up, hard to pass on it (assuming I can get one on time tomorrow). I also think it is a good way to support CS for a their hard work on Joule but mostly on all the recipes/videos they produce for our community. Fingers crossed for tomorrow..
