How strong is the magnet?
Darren_316779
Instead of securing the ziploc bags to the side of the stockpot with a clip, can I just clip the edge of the bag to the Joule's body clip?
The item will weight less in water but I wonder how much weight can the magnet support.

I would not recommend using Joule's clip, not the proper placement of your bag but I guess if your bag is large enough it could be possible. Also by moving Joule that much to get you bag under the clip you will probably trip Joule's tilt accelerometer and shut it off. Joule has a rare earth magnet, it is strong enough to hold Joule in place but not so strong that you have to pull very hard to remove Joule. I believe about six pounds.

My other concern is with the bag attached you could accidentally knock the Joule over much more easily...

The neodymium magnet will grab with up to 6 lbs of force (the exact force is a function of the metal composition of the pot, with cast iron and steel being ideal). Grant has certainly used the magnetic foot to pinch bags of buoyant food and keep them submerged.
