Changing the temperature

Is it possible to change the temperature of the water mid-way through heating/cooking? For example, if the recommended temperature is 149F for chicken breast, and I wanted to change it to, say, 152F, do I have to actually stop it and start it again manually? Seems crazy to me.

Yes you can change it and it's easy. With Joule you don't even have to be in the same room (actually you don't even have to be in the same state :-)..)

You can change temperature but, you do have to stop the current . I am not sure why you would want to do that though. When you use the app you get a visual reference of what your food will look like at that temperature then you select if it is fresh or frozen and the thickness. The water is heated to the correct temperature and it tells you when the water is heated. You then put your bagged food in and let it cook. Sous vide is about precision, why would you want to change the temperature? If you want to do that you can manually enter any temperature you want from 91°F to 208°F. It will ask if you want to stop the current program, you click yes and the new temperature is set.

Though raising the temp mid-cook would be less popular, lowering the temp after the cooking time may be more common (especially with eggs and such). Have done this at least a half a dozen times with chicken while running errands and lowered temp cuz errands ran long.

If Joule is connected to WiFi, you an access it from anywhere using the app. For example, I can be in Boston and set Joule in Columbus OH (yes I have done this) by using your mobile data.
