Dry ice and syphon
Leif_Erik_192010
Hey there I've got a question
Does anyone know if it's possible to put dry ice in a whipping syphon to carbonate a foam or anything else? Or will the syphon explode or become damaged?
Thanks in advance
Leif-Erik

No, I wouldn't do this. You are likely to way exceed the pressure rating of the siphon. If you wanted a carbonated foam, I'd try a CO2 charger combined with a NO charger. I haven't done this, but it's where I'd start. Probably start with some sort of stabilized foam base, then hit it with CO2, vent, NO, shake, CO2, shake and/or hold chilled and then dispense. Just a guess though and you may want to experiment.

You theoretically do it with precise measuring of the amount of dry ice. But sublimating dry ice expand its volume 900 times so you're probably be more doing a
dry ice bomb

Highly unrecommended

Firstly, that's extremely dangerous. Secondly... why would you bother with dry ice if you have a siphon? Just use CO2 cartridges. It'll carbonate pretty much anything you want to carbonate, from cocktails to kimchi.

If you happen to try this leave it outside and take a video from far away just so we can watch what happens :-)

I think you got it, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME (or anywhere for that matter).
