No but be very careful with what type of bit you use to cut it, as that type of plastic can shatter very easily.

I read people warning that Cambros are liable to shatter when cutting, but when I cut a lid for an Anova it didn't seem that troublesome at all. I used a drill press and a hole saw drill bit that looked like this:

I went slow and it cut into the polycarbonate rather gradually and predictably. The polycarbonate seemed to be rather malleable under the hole saw bit; I didn't think it was going to shatter at any point. I used some blue painters tape as reinforcement, but I don't think it helped much other than help prevent scuff marks.

Not sure if there is a template specifically for Joule (there should be!), but we know the diameter of Joule from the specs page, 1.85 inches or 47.0 mm. You could get a hole saw drill bit that's slightly larger than that diameter to cut a hole and use some sort of linear saw to cut the remaining bit. When I did a lid for an Anova I used a band saw to cut off the last bit, but a hacksaw probably works.

Thanks. I will wait for the Joule to arrive before worrying about it. I cut a Cambro lid for the Anova. Perhaps it will work. The material was like thick Tupperware and not prone to breakage.

By the way, I purchased a Nexlevl magnet from Amazon. I can set it under a nonferrous container to hold the Joule in place. With the magnet under the Cambro I need only to cut the round hole in the lid.

Has anyone found a template for cutting into a Cambro lid. I too have purchased the lid for the Cambro and would like to cut a hole for the Joule. Because of the cord it looks like it will be at least 3in in diameter to fit. I may try to do a smaller hole for the Joule and knock out a small tab for the cord.
