Has anyone gotten their preordered joule or even a shipping notification

I am curious to know – has anyone received their pre-ordered Joule? A shipping notice? I pre-ordered January 13, 2016. I did receive the notification to confirm my shipping address but have not received any further correspondence from ChefSteps regarding the process.

Sorry, but this never ending string of repetitious questions about Joule is driving me crazy.

PLEASE....on the right hand side of the screen are all the main forum topics. If you'll notice there is one called 'Joule'. Click on that and you'll find SO many answers to your question.

There is also a FAQ on Joule that will answer pretty much any query you may have.

I feel your frustrations: half of the folks asking are just champing at the bit, ready to sous vide up a storm; the other half are complaining, and demanding satisfaction. Unfortunately, there is nothing in the Joule FAQ that addresses these questions.

Patience is a virtue. ChefSteps has said countless times that Joule will ship in September, and unless someone has changed the calendar then there is still plenty of time left for it to ship in September...

I'm sure as people start to receive their Joules, that there will be plenty of posts here reflecting that.

Pressure cookers are not without their uses. I'm buying one probably this week...probably not going to be used for what it was intended for though, so i suppose the point rather moot.

Those FAQ's don't address this question. Shipping "in September" doesn't reassure me, especially since it's the 19th and it seems there is nary a tracking number in sight. They were supposed to ship in May. They keep pushing the date back. This was a Christmas gift. I understood the wait. But at the rate they are going we'll be lucky if we get them before this Christmas.

They originally said it was going to ship in May 2016. You know what's a better "virtue", communicating with your customers who've paid. How many things do you know where you pay 6 month in advance and the supplier is at best, vague with you.

That doesn't cut it. Even saying "Hey, no updates on the exact shipping date yet, but soon" is better then silence. Silence is the worst thing they can do.

Actually, there are many examples of crowd funded start ups that work on the model of paying in advance of product development. I have seen many who are vague, and several who completely left initial investors hanging with nothing to show for it. The difference that I have seen with Chefsteps is that they have communicated clearly about the challenges and the timeline. On top of that, because the demand was so high, and efficiencies realized, they actually returned money to early adopters. I would say that's more virtuous than most...plenty of days left in September for pre-orders to begin shipping.

So you want, what? An email every week/other week saying something to the effect of "Hey guys, we don't know when it's going to ship, but it's going to ship soon."?

And no, you haven't seen ChefSteps communicate clearly. If you had, no one would be demanding an update. It also wouldn't have come as a surprise when they didn't ship in May either. I got an e-mail April 21st saying no May shipping. There were 7 full days yet till May. Right now, if we include today there are 9 business days left in this month. Which means 9 days to get shipping started and an ever decreasing window that units will actually be received this month.

But this wasn't a crowdfunded product. It was sold as a pre-order for a product which has been pushed back significantly. While I do appreciate the refund it is completely fair for people to be upset and voice their complaints with how this has been handled.

I'm extremely excited to get mine but I am upset by the poor communication throughout the process. I recieved a grand total of three emails about my Joule, first thanking me for my purchase. Second was to inform me of the indefinite delay and a vague explanation of why it was delayed. Third was my notice of refund and notice that it wold ship in September. The majority of information about the delays have come from Chefsteps members on this discussion board, not Chefsteps themselves.

I'm also disappointed that despite ordering it in January I got the same price as someone who ordered in August. A lower price was given to us early adopters as what felt like a thank you but it's hollow now considering we get nothing but a much longer wait than everyone else.

I really think Chefsteps could have handled this better but despite all my complaints I still am a fan and I still believe that my Joule will be awesome.

Byrdie, if they drive you crazy you may want to consider not contributing to them and even more effective avoiding them altogether. About that?
