enough already

I think it is so sad that the whole team at Chefsteps is working so hard to get the Joule out to us and all I hear is bickering when I come here to see what is going on. Sure, of course it would be nice to hear that the joules are on the way. But really....will bickering and complaining make it come sooner? Can we just give these guys a break??

I just know Joule is going to live up to it's hype because I see what Chefsteps has accomplished in the last 9 months I've been watching. I would love to have it in my hands next week, but I won't die if I don't. And no one else will either. Life doesn't always go smoothly. So we don't have our joule yet, but isn't it small compared to the problems of the world? Perspective, folks, perspective. It's not like you took a lab test and you've been waiting 8 months for the test to see if it's cancer. All this negative talk is cancerous. Or you just might give yourself an ulcer...don't sweat the small stuff is the big scope of life. Just saying...

It doesn't take much to make an announcement. We all love Chef Steps, that's why we are here, but as a customer you have every right to complain. I don't see anyone really flaming these guys, just wanting some information as we are all excited for Joule. I work in product development, so I know how hard it is. Things go wrong, but when they do, you have to be transparent about it with your customers.

Your point is fair. I get it. We aren't waiting for test results on a cancer biopsy. This isn't the end of the world. That doesn't change the fact that 1) Chefsteps sold us a product. 2) We paid them for the product. 3) We were told that we would receive the product by a certain date. I purchased my Joule near the end of last year and I am ok with the fact that I still don't have it yet, but Chefsteps could have done a much better job communicating with us about the process and causes for delays. Chris Young's most recent post was great to read. He communicated with us what is happening and as long as there are no problems with FedEx China we should have our Joules soon. That could have been done long ago. There can still be problems with fulfillment and the correct way for him to handle it in my opinion would be to quickly post an update. I understand that some people seem overly angry and It may be over the top, but Chefsteps could have done a better job communicating with us about the delays.

I completely believe that the ChefSteps Team is working hard to get us Joule, but we are almost done with the month of September and haven't heard anything about what is going on or whether there will be a new date. I would be very willing to forgive a 2-3 month set back, but I am growing pretty tired of this complete absence of communication. We are all backing this venture financially, which makes us part of the team. We are all clearly still behind the movement because we haven't asked for our money back. I think we just want to know what is going on.

Please...just search the forum. There is not a lack of communication. Type "update" in the search box above.

UPDATE [9/26/16] FedEx let us down today, and our shipment was delayed at the sorting center in Japan because there was no space available on the outbound plane. This isn't altogether surprising to us; the bankruptcy of Hanjin has distorted global shipping capacity and forced a lot of companies to shift to air freight to get products to where they need to be. FedEx is forecasting our delivery occurring tomorrow.

What was the date they told us we'd receive them by? I think i missed that communication. I remember the original ship by in May (which got delayed), the original September ship by, and then Chris Young's recent update that reiterated that they'd be starting to ship this week, and the hypothetical that we all should have them by next month. When did they put the receive by date?

Why does any paid customer have to search the forums for updates?

Why didn't the paid customers get an email immediately about every update?

Why is there no big "NEWS" link at the top of https://www.chefsteps.com/joule page with all the (alas very infrequent) updates? (Ironically, they managed to put no less than five(!) orange "Keep me posted" links on that page...)

The frequency, or rather the rarity, of communication pretty much qualifies as lack of communication.

No need to reply, these are just rhetorical questions, giving hints what ChefSteps could and should do better in the future.

I agree. That lack of communication was/is a problem. It takes about 3.5 minutes to send a group of emails out to the customer. Even saying there is no news from across the Pacific is SOME kind of communication.

You are really a giant buzz kill. But you can't win because all your negative comments are moot. Joules are shipping out as you continue to attempt to rable rouse. I strongly suggest you zip it because you are truly sounding more and more foolish with every post.

I have absolutely no interest in buzzkilling or rabble rousing. Or even "winning".

I do have interest in a better experience with dealing with ChefSteps in the future, even at the risk of sounding foolish for some.

Having said that, you're right in that I should have left that silly "two years for other companies" post simply unanswered.
