ChefSteps needs to mature its communication if it is to survive as a company

Let's be honest 99% of the people that have ordered joule don't have time to go the the chasms of a forum to find updates. This has been the major misstep. Paying customers shouldn't have to come to you for updates. The company needs to easily deceminate the information.

Simply, a user forum was a bad move as the vehicle. If you are committed to this medium then at least find a way to pinofficial statements at the top of the forum

Regarding forums and pinning, there is a thread in the Bugs and Feature Requests section that addresses this. CS is actively working on new forum software, or integrating a more feature complete forum package.

I think that better forum software with a more complete profile and reply history would also help a great deal, so we could better distinguish people who are contributors from people that are strictly agitating.... But I don't really agree with the rest of your post.

Way to miss the point.

This is just a bunch of apologists. I have no doubt that the staff works hard at chefsteps (except grant, he spends all his time on the damn mustache)but they are failing at their mission. They are a food and technology company and so far they are using not using technology and there is no food because there is no product. They have not taken ownership of any of the issues but instead push blame to the FCC and FedEx.

Also I am not here to make friends or show my food. I am here because chefsteps have put the burden on me to find out what happened to the money I gave them.

Anyway you shape it, it is bad business.

I find it amazingly entertaining that all of those who think they can run a business better than ChefSteps, hasn't asked for a refund. You're just here to whine, and guess what, ChefSteps was nice enough to give you a place to do that. That's good business.

You don't need to make a point of responding to each and every comment with a dissenting opinion. People will think whatever they want, and there is nothing you can do about it. The forum was only one of the methods of communication. Chris made a conscious decision to not send out updates unless there was concrete information, and that includes "no new news to share" variety of non-updates. I was okay with that, and understood it meant communication would be sparse. So digging through the forum wouldn't have yielded anything - there simply were not a lot of updates. While that could be frustrating at times, there is absolutely nothing in ChefSteps' DNA that would've indicated that silence meant there was a larger problem afoot. It didn't bug me. ymmv
