Leaving Joule in water?
Samuel_239838
I have a Cambro water bath setup that tends to work best if I just leave the circulator in the water 24 hours a day. Will that cause any damage to Joule?

Joule is designed to spend time in water. It is not unheard of for some cooks to last several days. So, you will not damage Joule by leaving it in water. Of course, you're going to want to change the water in your cambro on a regular basis, because it will get nasty in short order. One advantage of Joule, however, that I am looking forward to, is that you don't need much water (depending on what you are cooking) and Joule heats very quickly. Plus it is small and designed to fit in a drawer. So, my wife will be happy that there is not a giant tank of water with a large PS circulator taking up counter space in my kitchen.

Won;t damage Joule. To reuse the water would be helpful to crank it up prior to use however.

I have done that regularly with beta Joule over the past three months. I change the water very regularly. If you have hard water, which I do, as soon as you hear a squeak or any different noise it's time to clean with some vinegar and water. There is a good tutorial in the Joule app under support.
TL;DR version: 50/50 water and white vinegar, put in small container like a quart canning jar, set Joule for 140°F. When Joule gets up to temperature you're done.

Recommend covering your vessel if you have pets, even on short cooks. My cat discovered a new drinking trough and I was lucky to catch him in the act. Bad Max!
