HomeKit/Siri Plans?

I think the integration with Alexa for Echo/Dot users is great...does anyone know if CS has plans for similar offerings for Apple HomeKit/Siri?

Was curious about this as well. I hope they aren't being exclusive to amazon.

They will not be exclusive...they have already said they are waiting for google to release the developer package so they can incorporate the Joule there also...

Many of us are iOS users and we'd love to be able to have Siri talk to Joule. But, we've looked into HomeKit/Siri and the platforms just aren't open enough yet to allow control of Joule. Siri integration right now only works for a few things: calling an Uber, playing music, starting a workout, turning on lights, and changing the temperature of a home thermostat. You can kind of see how we might be able to abuse the home thermostat integration to work with Joule, but it wouldn't be pretty, and Apple would surely get cross with us.
But as soon as Apple begins allowing Alexa-like skills, we'll be all over it.

That's a bummer... But thanks for the candid answer.

Yes, it comes down to device profiles. Apple only allows specific categories of devices like fans, dimmers, switches, thermostats, sensors, sprinklers, etc. Hopefully they will allow custom definitions. The Joule is just a thermostat (or temperature sensor and switch) and a timer. It should be trivial for Apple to create an API to allow Joule to define the ability to address a particular joule, set a temperature and a time. The language is exactly that of a thermostat and timer, so there aren’t any special Siri commands that could be needed. It’s puzzling that Apple has not done this. They already relented on the requirement for a special chip in favor of software encryption. I get the feeling that Apple is spread so thin that they take for ever to innovate or iterate.

Hmmm... Wouldn't a thermostat integration work? I can set my Ecobee thermostat and see what the current temperature is. Also, Anova works with HomeKit apparently.
