October delivery date still expected for $149 pre-orders?
le.johnathan
When Joule went on sale for $149, and the subsequent massive push made by ChefSteps to pre-order (remember those awesome Facebook live videos like this one:
https://www.facebook.com/Chefsteps/videos/vl.1739587399641454/1135383306499730/?type=1
), it was said that people who pre-order during this sale would receive their Joules in October.
Is that still the case? Judging by the progress, it seems hard to expect since this was during August 2016. Would like to know since I want to play with Joule before Thanksgiving time to master a great recipe for Thanksgiving cooking.

It's close to midnight and I'm hammered but, it looks like it is October 6......which leaves which leaves 18, no 21, no ...a shit load of days before November...give it a rest people... I know everyone wants their Joule but, damn, the largest shipper in China...maybe the world, went under and CS STILL made good on the promise to start shipping in September. Those of you trying to "calculate" consider that the orders from November 24 until Dec I were probably in the 5 to 10 THOUSAND range and those have been delivered in 3 weeks or so....August will be delivered BEFORE the the Oct 4 orders which are 4 to 6 weeks out for delivery....some of us waited 11 months not just 3...this is NOT just directed at you Johnathan but, more to the people who just keep on moaning. I am like you and hope my 3 arrive before Thanksgiving 'cause i'm cooking for a shelter this year....by the way my 1st one, ordered Nov 24th (the very 1st day) arrived last week.....trust me when I say you will not be disappointed but, more like awesomely elated! screw it, i'm opening another bottle...

Be safe buddy, hope the storm doesn't cause you much damage.

Well said Rob! Those of us who ordered the very first day Joule came on the market....back in November 2015...waited a very long time...patiently....to finally see that package on our doorsteps.
We survived.
Now you do same with that dang ol' hurricane. Godspeed and stay safe.

So I'm asking because I have no idea. Upon what do you base the estimate of five to ten thousand Joules ordered in one week between November 24 and December 1 last year? I'm excited to try the tool (and, yes, impatient), but I'm definitely willing to describe Joule as kind of appealing to a niche market. Ten thousand? Shark Tank moment...

What's wrong with someone asking if it's still on schedule for all pre-orders to ship in October?
I'd like to know as well, if it's OK with you of course.

based on the amount of refund dollars stated as in excess of a million I believe...which would equate to about 20,000.....this turned to to be bigger than they predicted which is why they were able to reduce the price due to economy of scale...remember as early adopters we paid a DISCOUNTED price of $199 vs $299 (I think)....

I think this provides a fair estimation, however I wanted to point out that the math performed is based off an average $50 refund and doesn't account for unit(s) sold to those of us who had premium membership prior to purchase. Our refunds were closer to $35 dollars because Joule was originally bundled with premium membership and on the other end of the spectrum, people ordering after January 15 but before the sale reduction were at full price, $299.0. I would think because they were also affected by the April delivery delay, they would have been offered the price rebate as well, which leads to some big unknowns. Not on this forum but on Reddit, Chris has mentioned that their current shipping rate is only in the hundreds daily with hope to ramp up that capacity in the future.

Not sure why we as the customer have to do all these calculations. All CS has to tell us is their delivery forecast per order date. Surely they can do that. It would give the customer some satisfaction /sense of real anticipation. It would certainly help me since I live in Canada and I have to make plans to travel to U.S to pick it up.

I really want mine, but I'm not holding my breath for anything soon. I also ordered on the fire sale day, and fully understand I am at the end of the line. Fortunately my ability to feed myself isn't in jeopardy because of the hardware, so it all comes down to patience at this point!

They probably don't do that, say specific dates and allow the possibility they'll be wrong, in case a new wrench gets thrown into the mix causing more delays and causing even more outcry.
