Joule says that water level is too low even when well above minimum water level
Kevin_277491
My Joule arrived today! Unfortunately, I haven't been able to cook with it
. It's giving me an error saying that the water level is too low, despite the fact that it's well above the minimum. Any fixes for this?

Try pairing again. Is joule leaninf? Needs to be basically straight up and down.

Hi Kevin! We're happy to help here! We'll go ahead and send you an email shortly!

Thanks to Chefsteps for offering to send me a replacement so quickly. Not sure what's wrong, it's definitely not leaning.

Happy to report that the replacement works great. Excited to start cooking. Thanks
@Ellen
for taking care of it so quickly!

I have noticed a similar problem but I can still get cooking.
1. Place Joule in empty pot
2. Plug Joule in
3. Start adding water -- Joule light flashes red, app warns of low water. I guess it senses water but it's too low at first.
4. Add more water. Add all the water. Joule keeps flashing red. App refuses to let me start the cook.
5. Unplug/replug Joule. Water level is now sensed correctly.

Hello ChefSteps Community,
I just opened my joule and got this same issue of water level is too low when I have plenty of water. I've tried a hard reboot, reconnecting the device and MS' suggestion to solve my problem to no avail. Is there any other solution available or do I have to get it replaced? Thanks for the help (my pre-seared steaks are sitting in the ziploc as I write this)!

Just received my Joule and continually says water level is too low. cannot be as there is nearly 12 quarts in which it is submersed in Updated the app and tried on both iPhone and iPad. re-booted, unplugged, et al. A bit disappointed as these gorgeous steaks wanted a bath. Re

having the same problem - duck is seared and ready to go, but have been trying everything possible for the last hour and it says water level too low. Massively annoyed. Any other ideas not on here already?

I'm having the same issue. Bought it for GF for xmas and we just tried it for first time. Get the same error . Tried everything

our brand new Joule used three times is starting this "water too low" issue too. My brilliant husband is diagnosing. He's a doctor! I waited a bit when it said "add food" then it went wierd. We are trying again from scratch with cold water. Good job i started early.

My husband got it going in a bowl of cold water - then popped it over to the hot water bath. It's now working again.

Really upset that I too am having issues with my Joule. I’ve tried everything and the water level is still reading too low. This is extremely disappointing bc my husband and I were looking forward to trying it. Will definitely be calling tomorrow to try to see about a replacement

The same thing happened to me so I used the cold water trick and it worked. Ran it in a container of cold water for about a minute then pulled out the Joule whole still running and plopped it into my main container. Problem, though: once it arrived at target temp it gave me the same water level too low error message. Very frustrated.

I've got the same problem. Worked okay once, fails today with this water-too-low message despite being in plenty of water (and standing straight up, in the same pot with the same water level that worked yesterday). No fix for it?

I am having the same problem. I have only had my Joule for 2 months. It worked fine yesterday. There is plenty of water in the pot and it is not leaning.

Having the exact same issue...frustrated Have any fixes outside of a replace not resolved the issue?
Beatrice_Kingsbury_785812
Just happened to me - bought it 5 months ago & fell in love with sous vide. Until tonight. I am very frustrated. I tried the cold water fix but it did not work. Another frustration is how there is no straight forward way to contact the company. I like to have a community but what I really want is to directly contact the company, voice my problem and get a fix. If I am not satisfied with the response to an email I sent I am going to switch to another, more well-known and established brand. I lose my money ($179 plus cost for a nice case for storage).

whom will you be calling? Did you find a phone number somewhere?

This worked for me. Who knows of it will next time!
