Infusing alcohol with smoke + a whipper

On chefsteps I think they do this with wood chips, but does it do anything when you use a smoking gun, put smoke in a whipper, then charge it? There's a vid on YouTube where someone does it, but is it different to just putting the smoke in a normal bottle with the alcohol?

I've done this before and it turned out fine. Just give the contents a gental shake a few times and let it sit for a few minutes.

An iSi does work great to quickly flavor alcohol with other things but for smoke it's unnecessary.

Can you provide the link to the YouTube video? My thoughts would be that no-one has done it because of the nature of smoke. Smoke it tiny tiny particles of soot, volatilized chemicals, and flavor components from burning the wood suspended in air. Eventually, the smoke components will settle out of the air, but I'm not sure pressure would have any impact on this. Not to mention that you could only get so much smoke and liquid in a whipping siphon. You might try something like this:

, or put the tube that comes with the smoking gun through the liquid, to actually have the smoke bubble up through it, thereby imparting the flavor. I did find this video:

The Eddie shepherd link is the video I was referring to. But yeah, from my understanding of how pressure infusion works, I didn't see why it'd have a meaningful benefit, so I was curious when I saw that vid.

The ultimate smoked scotch for me was a bar in the Caymans when I lived down there (YES I drink things other than wine). He inverted a small decanter, filled it with smoke from a "smoking gun". carefully turned it over and poured the scotch in and covered for a few minutes...quite freaking tasty

I have the Super Aladdin. It's made of metal vs plastic. The motor is replaceable and I think it's designed to last. It also lets you infuse or aromatize (sp) with a sort of cotton pad. The only drawback is that the on off switch is on the bottom. I think it's the best 💨 out there. FWIW
