Joule Won't Heat Water

So I recently received my Joule last week. I was able to use it fine the first time and made some chicken breasts. Today, however, I'm trying to heat up and get ready to cook and the Joule won't heat up the water. The water is above the minimum line, everything is clean and setup. I left it for an hour and the water just dropped from 89F to 84F with no signs of getting hotter. We tried a factory reset but that also didn't work. I'm not sure what to do.

In the app, lower right hand corner, is the power button fully on or faded?

If it's fully lit then click on it and type in the number 100. Click on the power button again. How does Joule respond?

It was a pulsating orange like normal, but the temp didn't change

It is fully on and I can set the temp, but the app shows the temp dropping. I watched it go from 89 to 84 without any heating happening.

I am having this exact issue as well. I just received my Joule and out of the box it refuses to heat water at any temperature. I have sent a support request via the Joule app. I was hoping to sous vide some turkey this Thanksgiving, but looks like that option is out... Chefsteps, please help.

I'm very disappointed in the lack of response from Chefsteps, the inability to chat, and the lack of information on the website. Unfortunately I had the same issue you're all having and day one water won't heat or circulate.

Assuming the motor was similar to an aquarium water pump, (turns out it's not), I opened Joule from the bottom by unscrewing the foot on the bottom and removing the propeller/impeller with a fork per the cleaning instructions. Rinsed it, put it back together and works perfectly. Water jumped up 30 degrees F in less than five minutes. I'm assuming the propeller/impeller may get jammed or

Minor gripes aside, it's working perfectly and excited to try my first dinner with it tonight.

That's exactly what I did after reading this and it it works now! (And, that was after using it only once to heat bacon.) Seems like the impeller gets into a particular position and the motor won't move it. Moving it manually did the trick.

Just had the same thing happen. New Joule right out of the box, powered on and paired just fine but no circulation and heat was slowly going down. I unplugged it, unscrewed the foot at the bottom and gave the propeller a couple spins with my finger, restarted it and now everything works fine.

I've had the same problem. So tried your solution of unscrewing the foot, moving the impeller, et voila! We are in business - thanks all! Update: unforrtunately, this problem keeps occurring. Almost every time try to use it, I have to unscrew the bottom and /or turn my phone off and restart.

So - same problem. I took off the base, moved the propeller, when that didn't work - I took the propeller out, cleaned it and reinstalled it. Still won't work but I am now hearing some ticking. (ChefSteps site and support is atrocious!)

I'm at the same place, too. Every time I've used Joule since about the 5th cook I go through this. Everything would seem to be ok, except it's not heating or spinning.

I managed to catch my first-generation Joule in the act – the impeller dropped to a trickle and recovered on its own. Here's a video of the episode. I'll be contacting support.
