Question about refunds

With the email I just received adjusting the time frame for ship date, I want to buy an anova, since I now believe I won't even have my unit in time for thanksgiving. I'm concerned about the refund, though.

So, a question for those others who have given up on the joule (I can't be the only one): how long does it take to get a refund? I'd like to grab the anova while it's still 169 on amazon.

I got my refund within a week. It was very fast very and very easy. Only took one request for refund. All these immersion heaters are far more similar than they are different from each other. You stick it in the water, water heats up, you put your food in and it cooks. Is a Mercedes better than a BMW, is a Ford better than a Chevy? It depends on who you ask, what you drive, what's important to you... Do you care if one car does 0-60 one second faster than the other, do you prefer the leather stitching in one car over the other? If you do that's fine, if you don't that's fine. It's all very subjective and personal preference. If you want to start cooking sous vide right away and can't wait for your Joule to arrive or you can't justify buying another heater while you wait for the Joule to arrive I think you'll be very happy with the Anova. It's a very reliable product that's proven itself over time. (I'm not saying there aren't lemons out there... I'm sure there are plenty of customers that might feel differently about the Anova) There are also plenty of other products on the market. Eventually the Joule will probably be available on Amazon for next day delivery. But right now you can take control, make your choice and remember it's all about the joy of cooking. I run six Polyscience circulators of different variations and two anovas in my kitchen and have only had issues with one of the polys. I only bought a Joule because of curiosity and I liked the compact size, hope it might fit in my knife bag so sous vide on the go can become a thing. I have no doubt you'll be happy with your anova and I have no doubt chefSteps will refund your money in time for you to but the anova in time for thanksgiving. Good luck.

I'm sure that the chefsteps team is honest and whatnot, but a week isn't fast for a refund. While it's good enough, I suppose, it's not fast, and it's definitely not "very fast". And being good enough is distinctly sub-par, especially in the increasingly competitive home sous vide marketplace. Also, there's no need to condescend like that.

Timmy, if you ask for your refund today you'll probably get your refund by Monday. I think that's fast, very fast, supper fast, distinctly above-par.

If you'll read the post Chris posted hours ago https://www.chefsteps.com/forum/posts/update-on-joule-deliveries you will note they process the credits as soon as they receive the request. And as with ALL credits from ANY vendor, the posting can take between 5 -10 business day depending on the bank you use.

You should be able to get a refund in a timely manner. When they gave me my initial refund for dropping the price ($209 - $149 = $60) it took about 3 days, like they estimated, from when they announced the refund to when I received it in my bank account. If you are serious about getting a full refund, I would say there is no need to worry.

The limitation on how fast you get your refund is typically the credit / debit card systems and how quickly they process those, not how quickly a vendor issues the refund.
