Go to the Recipe: Mulled Wine
is it possible to get the "song"/sound from the mulled wine video. iam fascinated.
I remember drinking this during the Winter months when I lived in Germany. Now I am going to make my own instead of buying the expensive stuff....
This is a classic christmas drink in Norway where I'm from. We usually add a couple of raisins and chopped almonds to each cup of wine and we drink it out of mugs. The almonds and raisins taste awesome after a good soak in the wine.

Could one mull, say, an apple juice in place of the wine and come up with the same flavor profile as an apple cider? Really any fruit juice for that matter.
I would say so.

Beautiful, thanks.
Nice recipe ! In Czech Republic mulled wine is one of the winter staples as wel. I would usually use a different technique as the boiling point of alcohol is around 78°C. I would first make a caramel in the pot (some sugar and two spoonfulls of water), once golden I take it of the stove, cover it with a cup of hot water, carefully mix it until disolved and add the spices (star anyse, cinamon, cloves, cardamon, orange/lemoon zest, vanilla). Then I bring it to boil on a medium flame and boil it down for some 5 minutes or so. Once infused and reduced I add wine, bring it to a light simmer, cover and leave it on a low flame for some time to futher induce the flavours.
TIP - try another winter favourite "Mulled white wine". It works with the same spices and procedures. Try for example chardonnay or sauvignon blanc
Most definitely! :-) I used to work in a coffee shop and during winter we would mull all different kinds of fruit juices. My favourites are mulled pear and mulled cranberry. Also no need to add extra sugar to these.
One handy tip is to add the spices and citrus peel into a small cloth bag like muslin cloth. This way once its done you can just grab the bag out without having to strain the entire batch.
Any reason it wouldn’t work to steep the mulled wine sous vides in mason jars to avoid overheating/oxidizing the wine and evaporating the alcohol? What temperature….
This is delicious!
