Go to the Recipe: Sous Vide Asparagus
This is awesome! Thank you! Is is possible to meal prep this so that I can pack it and then microwave it later with a precooked steak that could be microwaved with it?
Microwaved steak? Did I miss some huge new fad? I've never tried it, but that doesn't sound good. Am I missing out on something?
Seriously delicious hot with dinner...and equally amazing cold with a nice tangy dressing. Best way ever to cook asparagus. Thanks!!
Microwave a steak? Please no. (A Salisbury Steak?) LOL
You "could" but also consider microwaving the asparagus (45s on high or see - https://www.chefsteps.com/activities/asparagus-with-ham-and-egg ) as you retherm the steak in Joule. Finish the asparagus as if you used Joule (same finish)
Messenger is giving me a "this bot is confused" when I try to choose Snappy or Springy.
Can these be prepped a couple days in advance?
Can you cook ahead and warm up latet
Brand new Joule and needed stuff to cook. Asparagus in SV seems like overkill but it was day1 and I needed a veggie to go with SV salmon. I went with the 'springy', added paper thin sliced garlic, evoo, salt, pepper, vacuum sealed, and let it cook. Once done I set about prepping the rest of the meal then tossed the gus in a pan to heat right before serving (if i was thinking I could have dropped them in the salmon SV). The asparagus was surprisingly delicious with garlic and salt flavor through and through. Of the two SV items cooked that meal, the gus benefited most from the technique. Did not expect that.
I detest how you call asparagus 'gus. This familiarity merely makes you seem less intelligent and foolish.
and I detest how impolite and crass you're being, but we can't all be perfect can we?
BE NICE TO THE CHEFSTEPS PEOPLE.
If I'm vac sealing the asparagus to preserve them for a later date, can i still seal some oil in the bags? Or do you recommend sealing the veggies without oil if we were to put it in the freezer or fridge for later use.
I too, am offended. Please refrain from offending me. This offense may be actionable let me check with my attorney. :-)) (charles, get a life or whither away please).
Be brave. Use butter.
hi gang,
how long did you seal the vacuum bag by 100%?
It should take less than a minute.
The simplest way to cook asparagus, break off the tough ends, trim them with a veg peeler, put them in a small sink or equivalent and poor boiling water straight out of the kettle and leave for about 3 mins. No fuss and no sous vide set up.
If you use white asparagus... After cleaning them, you line them in a vacuum bag with az pinch of salt, sugar and some milk. You seal them (not too much for not breaking them) and you put therm in a sousvide for 30 minutes at 85°C. Delicious!
Nobody calls it 'gus.
Nobody.
I come here for the recipes. Stop trying to be edgy. It's cringe.
no. they will explode.
I'd say you telling them what verbiage to use in their recipes is by far the cringiest thing here
What temp?
