Joule + power bank
Darren_316779
Saw this today. Combining this with Joule would make outdoor cooking and camping so much more awesome!
Question: once the water reach the desired temp and assuming minimal loss of heat, I assume the heating element will require very little power?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to use Joule with that. The
Pro
model only outputs 100W of power. The heating element alone in Joule pulls 11 times that. If by chance you got it to run, the battery would only last you a few minutes at best.

That's a very nice power bank but I would be afraid of a power spike that would be a problem with the Joule or the power bank. Don't forget that you'll have a big power surge as soon as you put some cold stuff to cook.

Your post does remind me of this though...the
Sous Vide Truck
!
Even here, Norm said that he powered his immersion circulators using the "campsite's power source" and not even the power supply from the truck. Your best bet for campsite sous vide would be a bank of car batteries and very beefy pure sine wave power inverter.
Hmm...now you've got me thinking....

I agree with every one else that has posted. The device you linked to, is meant to be used as a trickle-charger, not a sustained power supply. Cool idea though!

Joule pulls 1100 watts, this is only rated for 100 watts. You would want a generator.

Ah! That's unfortunate but thanks all for the input!

cost about the same....a Little larger..;) BUT, a lot more useful can charge your phone, car, power your lights, Joule bug, zapper, immersion blender etc. $229

I liken using Joule or any other electronic kitchen device on a camping trip akin to putting on full makeup using a lighted makeup mirror and using my hair dryer on same camping trip. I can do it, but why not just stay home?

Tell me why the
portable charger 20000mah
can beep when charging it? I didn't notice this before. And today I hear a squeak. On discharge, i.e. when Joule or any other electronic kitchen device I charge silence from it. Perhaps it is broken and I need to buy a new one? I don’t know what it could be. Yesterday I charged Joule and everything was okay, but today this annoying squeak appeared. Thank you all for the tips.
