I guess the promise that we'll get our unit in October is no longer happening...I ordered last March. Too bad for me.

Ordered Mine January 15th. Have not heard anything. Disappointing...

David / Richard - I regret your delays but can assure you CS wants nothing more than to fulfill all orders ASAP. If your unit hasn't shipped it will soon...

So I ordered mine 1/16, I should be hearing something tomorrow maybe... đ

Christina - seems fair enough to me! End of the day, you're gonna love it, it's gonna be better than Anova (which I have), and the world will go on...

Ordered mine on June 30. Was hoping for delivery in October. That's not going to happen. Beginning to have doubts about November. I'm guessing mid-December. Though I'm afraid January is not out of the question. Of course I've heard nothing.
Incidentally, I have run a software development company for the past 30 years. If I had kept my customers in the dark as to when they they would receive product they had paid for, I wouldn't have lasted 30 weeks. Evidently CS has a great product and I guess I'll wait. But my God folks, develop some business sense!

OMG, wow, you ran a company thats initial goal was to develop software and it did just that in a timely fashion, good for you.
We all bought into this knowing that their startup was based solely on producing quality cooking videos which expanded into paying for video based classes for more technical aspects of cooking which they then built a piece of hardware from the ground up hoping to deliver a better product to the market place at an extremely reasonable price. Have they run into delays, yes; have they run into obstacles, yes; are they still working hard to deliver every Joule they recieve right back out to us, yes.
I also wish they were more communicative but I just view their silence as operational security. I am just as anxious as everyone else to recieve mine but standing on a high horse and griping is not going to get it here any sooner.
I bought the Joule as my first sous vide because I believe in ChefSteps as I am sure most of us on here did. If you're that anxious just buy an Anova, you run a software company you can afford it.
Sorry just tired of the whining. Rant Over.

Good news Jeff! I also ordered mine on 1/13, still patiently waiting for the shipping notice. My account does have this message:
This order will be delivered by Thanksgiving at the latest, and likely sooner.
Weâll send you an email with a tracking number as soon as we can get Joule out the door to you. We are fulfilling preorders in the order in which they were received. We will not send any new Joule orders before all the preordersâincluding yoursâhave been fulfilled.
Pretty excited to get it, hopefully before Thanksgiving so I can utilize it for the holiday!

While I agree that Chefsteps journey into making a hardware product is quite of the beaten path for their company, I disagree with the rest of your assessment. Their are some traits that are inherent in ANY company, whether that be hardware or software. One of the most important of these is customer service.
What I have seen from CS over the course of the last several months, has been some of the worst customer service I have born witness to. To dismiss it as Operational Security is naive; who are they trying to "secure" their operation from? Further, some claim that they are simply putting their head down and focusing on getting the product released. I don't see why sending updates to your customers is mutually exclusive from the former. Even more appalling is that they have failed to send almost any updates over email. Whilst me and you may be avid followers of this forum, I have a friend who also purchased a Joule, and she is constantly confused and frustrated as to the status of her shipment. How is she supposed to know to check the forum? How is she, or anyone, supposed to know when their Joule will be arrive.
I'm not asking for a live webcam of their office, or minute by minute tweets, but I don't think a weekly or bi weekly update is something crazy to ask for, nor do I think constitutes me rising onto a high horse. Further I don't think Steve's frustration that a product that was supposed to arrive in September, then October, now November, puts him on a high horse.

I said I viewed it as operational security not that it is. Just my mind rationalizing it with what I do for a living. The high horse comes from comments like "this would never happen in my company" (paraphrasing). Again these are all my opinions and above was a rant because I come here to track how close mine is to shipping and I'm tired of the gripes that bring us no closer to a solution. They've maintained radio silence throughout it all, hard to expect them to abandon their strategy now.
I guess all I'm really trying to say is I get where you are coming from, I feel frustrated too, but this is getting us nowhere, we just gotta wait it out, we will get it eventually.
