Go to the Recipe: Steamy-Hot Sexy Whole Fish in 5 Minutes—It’s Microwave Magic
I'm excited to see how many anti plastic/anti microwaver's jump all over this. I however have learned to put my faith in CS and do what they f***ing suggest!
Definitely going to try this with a cheaper fish first, but it actually seems promising!
Cool Alex, a few tips, we tried this with a few different types of fish, go for a fish that is a little more oily, also it will be better to go for a shorter time and rewrap and cook it more if you need to instead of blasting it and over cooking it right out of the gate. The fat will help keep it moist. We had prety good results with black cod as well.
I used a pompano, and all the other ingredients except used poblanos for the peppers. True, I missed the crispy skin that comes from frying, but the speed of making this meal and the easy cleanup is hard to beat. Gave me a very respectable meal, filled my belly, pleased my taste buds, gave leftovers for later, and now I can get my butt back to work. Thank you.
Could you use a tupperware that seals well to not have to waste the plastic? Or is it still just not a tight enough seal? I have Rubbermaid Brilliance.
I wouldn't recommend using the lid or sealing with the lid. Is the lid actually microwave safe? Silicone would be the best alternative to the plastic wrap. If you seal with the lid you may be in danger of it popping or creating a vacuum and impossible to remove. The lid may be too tight of a seal actually, since plastic wrap is more flexible against the side of any dish or plate.
Oh my Lord, but this is SCREAMING "make me"....any thoughts regarding microwave wattage???
Hi Jeff, the microwaves we used to develop this one were 1100watt. If you are using less power I would let it ride until you see a full dome of steam build up... go for 2 min then follow the resting steps.
Hi CS and Justin!
I am one of those anti plastic people. Plastics are in our water, our fish, our food if we cook it in plastic. It’s a hormone disruptor and may be the cause of so many cases of early cancer I’m seeing as a nurse. I will try it but use silicone instead. Or use parchment paper in the oven.
