Has anyone tried to make this with the GF, Plant based Cream of Mushroom soup? Since I love to cook, I tend to get assigned these type of dishes for the holidays 😅
Try adding 3 minced cloves of garlic, 1 tsp lemon zest, 2 tbsp lemon juice, 2 tbsp butter, 1 tsp of thyme leaves removed from the sprig to the mushroom base. Also add to the top French fried jalapeños along with the onions!
This looks amazing! BTW, thanks for your comment about women home economists. They truly are under-appreciated. Some may have "updated" food in post WWII US. Most, however, fed families large and small, while others continued to use their education to help folks learn to cook, preserve food, and occasionally judge county 4-H rodeos and county fairs. Admittedly times were simpler, but someone may say the same about us at some point, but that does not diminish what they accomplished with much love, dedication, and unheralded talent!
thank you.
I didn’t thin out the sauce and it was way to thick, almost a solid, when it came out of the oven. Next time I’ll definitely thin it out a bit.
Just finished my Cream of Mushroom base... Do I need to thin it out at all for this recipe? Or is it good to go as is?

what size casserole dish did you guys/gals use?
I am so excited to make this
