I didn't have any saison yeast, so I tried a batch with ale yeast, and one with cider yeast. The ale yeast was OK, the cider was terrible.
I got a few days in in a hot part of the year, and the ferment was going too quickly, so I kept it in the fridge for a couple of weeks to finish off and it got a bit more drinkable.
I'll try again when the weather cools a bit, and use saison yeast.
