And the black peppercorn? I don't see any reference to it's use.
It is the last listed ingredient in step 1.
Can I use apple cider vs apple juice? Does it matter?
it will have a little less sugar but the flavor sounds great.
I have used both Elixir #1 and #2. Using the traditional high heat sear means that these elixirs seem to burn very quickly. It makes sense with the ingredients but I am wondering what the ideal scenario is - mostly for grill and indirect heat? Or direct sear but at a lower temp? What about the use of oil in the sear?
We like to use it more as a finishing spray on the final few turns on the grill, or as a wet base for rubs for our smokeless items.
