Go to the Recipe: Green Apple Tonic
How will the result be when leaving Ascorbic acid and Malic acid out?
What is the difference between Tonic syrup and Tonic water?
Green apples? Do you mean Granny Smith, or unripe apples of variety? Details! I need details! :-)
The video/pics shows Granny smith
Tonic syrup is concentrate. You add either soda to it or better, plain water and then if you're making a G&T, carbonate the whole drink - including the gin, so it's super fizzy. Good stuff. You use about 3/4oz per drink.
If I can't make the apple tonic is there something similar that I could use
What tools do you use to carbonate the whole drink?
it will probably turn brown and be less tangy with malic.
A siphon with CO2 cartridges :-)
How long will this mixture last refrigerated?
Interesting concept, but the result is horrible and a waste of good gin when used as a mixer. Followed the instructions exactly (even bought a juicer), but this is nothing like any of the tonic waters I have tried -- that's not in a good way either. Too acidic and only a hint of the quinine can be tasted. Maybe rethink the quantities of acid and try a smaller amount of a less-tart apple.
