Made these. Flavor is awesome. Unfortunately they went very flat. Any ideas?
Did you use blackstrap molasses? The reaction of that molasses type and the baking soda can make them spread more than regular molasses. You can cut back on the baking soda. You can also add some more flour for better structure. Always do a test and then adjust the dough if possible.
I used Grandma’s Molasses. My wife thinks since the butter wasn’t completely at room temp and I creamed the mixture longer in the mixer to make sure there were no chunks of butter, it affected the bake and caused the spreading.
cookies spread way too thin, was using grandma's molasses as well.
I had the exact same problem - very flat, very thin, used Grandma's Molasses. Very disappointed, have never had a Chefsteps recipe fail so badly for me.
