Go to the Recipe: Eggnog Cocktail
Nothing says holiday cheer like homemade eggnog spiked with rum and served up! Happy Holidays Chefsteps - thanks for the fantastic recipe!
Happy holidays to you too Jerry. Glad you enjoyed the recipe.
I didn't expect it to be this good but the recipe delivered! I felt the Eggnog alone was lacking in spice and body (I added .2% more Carrageenan for a non-alcoholic version for teetotalers) initially, but when added to the eggnog cocktail it hit the mark. I was surprised by how much Rum was added, I thought the alcohol taste would overwhelm and the drink would be watered down - but I was wrong, the texture was perfect and the run was not overpowering - a perfect balance. Great job ChefSteps team!
What is the garnish on the glass rim?
Almost like a painkiller - but better. ChefSteps delivers primo yet again. Happy Holidays!
Those look like the remains of the nutmegs that were grated for garnish.
Oh dear god this is the tits! I followed the newer eggnog recipe, & I felt it could've been thicker, so I swapped out the milk for double cream, & it's a miracle.
Amazing Results - Also, this shot includes the Foolproof Cracklin’ Crème Brûlée
😂 Funny comment.
The tits, Carrie. THE TITS.
Can you use the non-modernist version of eggnog for this recipe?
You can essentially swap in any egg nog here but they will all vary in flavor and sweetness.
Thank you! 🤘
Made this at my smaller immediate family Christmas and was blown away by how good it was. Used the Modernist Egg Nog recipe and had 2 different rums on hand. Used Zaya for the first batch, which was good but not great, then used Bumbu for the second batch. Hadn't heard of Bumbu before but received it as a gift this year, definitely sweeter and more vanilla than Zaya. Second batch was mind-blowing good! Making a double batch for the extended family Christmas party this weekend.
TL;DR - use a rum that accents the sweet and vanilla and you'll be pleased!
