I live in Toronto and for whatever reason I just can’t get Fresnos. Is there something I can sub? Jalapeños?
Michael, Fresno or Anaheim chilies are lower on the Scoville heat scale, particularly the green ones. The red ones when available ripen longer so are a bit warmer. If use use a Jalapeno substitute just reduce the grams until the heat is to your liking. Fresnos are rated 500 - 2500 on the scale, whereas jalapenos are rated 2500 - 8000, so you could just guesstimate to around 20% to 30% of the recipes suggested amount. Play with it and you'll figure it out. Good luck, JB
