Does the convection lead to more even cooking since its forcibly circulating the heat throughout the oven? I'm wondering if I can switch my oven to super-convection while it preheats then switch it off for regular baking.
I have a Brevel toaster oven/air fryer. If I cook stuff in the basket it makes such a mess. So, I usually line it with aluminum foil. Am I defeating some of the purpose of it or not? Thanks!
In a way you are limiting the air circulation on the side of the food that is touching the foil. Parchment paper is better. The basket can be messy but placing a tray underneath helps catch any debris.
Convection keeps the heat circulating efficiently resulting in more even cooking, yes. You can toggle the fan on and off at will in some cooking modes but some settings require super convection.
With the Breville Smart Oven, I assume I put the wire basket at the "Airfry" level with the provided tray underneath on top of a rack positioned at the "Slow Cook" level. Is that how you would do it?
The cooking mode rack positions are just suggestions for best use case. You can play around and find your sweet spot for preferred foods. The basket works well in both of the middle positions. I prefer to bake on the lower racks as an example.
I just got the BOV 860 oven. I think I know most of the differences between that and the 900 and 950, but don't really know if the temps or times should be changed in recipes I see for the 900's since the 860 is a smaller oven. Can you help me out with that?
same times and temps, only real difference is the capacity size.
