With a machete, why not? Love it! Great hobby; fun to do and you get to drink champagne afterwards. I do agree with Dave Arnolds tip in the video below. Choose a bottle you know works (also, great excuse for practicing). I sabred a bottle I hadn't tried before at a party once, and of course that was the one bottle that has ever exploded on me.

That was my first ever attempt. It was basically the cheapest champagne with a cork I could find at Trader Joes. Maybe $6 a bottle?
