Go to the Recipe: Baguette Crisps
Great instructions - I'm going to try this!
Just FYI - the instructions in the video say to bake for 4 minutes but the text says 7 minutes.
Awesome!
Looks good! 0.5mm? That is paper thin... did you mean 0.5cm (5mm)?
Looks 1.5-2 mm in video
These are great, nice and flat, and hold up to toppings well. It also solves the age-old problem: You can't buy good bread on Thanksgiving morning because all the stores are closed, but the bread you bought yesterday is already going stale! So turn the bread into crisps the day before!
Not having a deli slicer, I cut them by hand using a serrated bread knife, which is a bit more work. After freezing the French baguette overnight, it is a bit easier to cut if you let it thaw a few minutes (or a couple of minutes between cutting a group of slices). Don't stack the slices while baking, or they will stick.
In my oven I had to go 9-10 min at 400°F to get them nicely browned. Less for lighter brown.
[Note to self: 1 medium Clear Flour baguette makes ~65 chips.]
The recipe says four to seven minutes depending on your oven
