So incredibly hard to choose. This is like asking a mother which of her newborn children she loves more.
Waffles, Belgian style. Flighty yeasty hint of sweetness light inside and crunchy on the outside. Deep pockets just begging for maple syrup or you can try some birch syrup for a different treat
Definitely the newborn child that looks like a waffle
Ha!
Waffles...without question! Texturally, far more interesting
Oh it is WAFFLES all the way! vs. a soggy pancake? No contest!
Waffles for sure!
Love yeasty waffles, but the variety of types of pancakes from buttermilk to ricotta from wheat to buckwheat just makes pancakes more interesting.
lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes beat waffles any time!
I love me some pancakes, but in thinking about it I've never ordered pancakes when I was out at a restaurant - unlike waffles. Team Waffle it is!
Waffles! I like both but waffles takes the day in my Breville smart Waffle Iron and Alton Browns recipe
Wood fired waffles made in cast iron waffle pans, dressed with butter, jam, maple syrup, fresh mint leaves and more maple syrup. Waffles have more places to catch the butter and syrup. Did I mention the maple syrup?
This ancient debate nearly tore our family apart. My wife firmly believed pancakes were dry and waffles were king. However, she stuck with me and perfected the pancake. Instead of the Dry Lie of Fluffy Pancakes, she perfected the thin, wet, crusty edge pancake that rules the house. The WS waffle maker sits in the corner, gather dust.
Waffles. I love that they're crisp and delicious. I like minimal syrup so they don't get soggy. My wife loves just powdered sugar. My daughter fills the holes with chocolate chips. Everyone here loves the waffles - especially when I make them via my mom's recipe.
Paaaaaancakes... Bet mattresses in heaven are made of this stuff... Pillows would be made of beignets... At least in my heaven:))
Remember what Biz Markie has to say:
Pancakes and syrup, pancakes and syrup, pancakes and syrup, it's breakfast time!
Y'all know me, I biz with the beat guaranteed to rock out just like the E. Leave the M-A-R-K-I-E ain't know why there's a ZAY-Y-P. Every time I rock from here to Europe, you know I be makin' pancakes an syrup. Yup, uh-huh, I rub my tummy, yum-yum-yum -yum-yum-yum-yummy!
Liege waffles are maybe the best thing in the world so....
However, I will give a big shout to oatmeal griddle cakes
OH MY GOSH. Russ. You, sir, are a genius. I'm definitely in the waffle camp for the texture - nothing beats a little bit of crispy on the outside of your waffle. I'm going to need one of these cast iron waffle pans before my next camping trip...
Pancakes
waffles. yeast waffles
Waffles have way more potential then the pancake.
Try these and see what you think---

Fold in the dry ingredients and pecans and coconut.
Beat the egg whites to soft peaks and fold into the batter.

Good cooking
Chef Craig
Pancakes!
Wafflesssssss!!! Yeah, more pancake variations but this is chef steps... Why NOT oatmeal waffles or whatever?
Clearly waffles.
Waffles for the texture.
Yeasted waffles are the best!
Waffle. Obvi!
And I don't waffle on the issue.
Sourdough waffles and REAL maple syrup. A combo made in culinary heaven.
Just remember waffle people, "waffle" and "awful" rhyme.
You don't just pour syrup over a stack of pancakes. You butter and syrup the bottom pancake and repeat the process as you build the stack.
It's Sophie's choice, but tougher.
Without a doubt, Waffles for their texture... if I am being objective. But for the nostalgia, it's definitely pancakes.
I make my Waffles with buttermilk and a mix of melted bacon fat and butter and mix in some bacon I powder-ize in a coffee grinder then spray on to the waffle iron from my isi Whip. Serve with butter, Maple candied pecans, pecan wood smoked bacon, maple rum chantilly and maple syrup (on really special days with the syrup from trees we tap ourselves).
Waffles hands down. Although I wouldn't walk away from a plate of Swedish pancakes with Lingonberries...
I make killer sourdough 100% whole wheat waffles!
Waffles ...or dutch babies
Waffle Camp?!? There's waffle camp? I know where I'm going this summer!
We’re all coming over for breakfast, Daniel!
My wife usually puts coconut syrup on waffles and maple syrup on pancakes. We discovered coconut syrup on our honeymoon in Hawaii and grew up in Michigan, a maple syrup state. Also, as a nod to my childhood, I like to put huckleberries in my pancakes.
Also, we're moving to Seattle next month, so if anyone knows a source of huckleberries in Seattle, let me know.
I just drooled reading the contents of this majestic waffle you just described.
Please advise if you are or are not a magician.
Hand it obah!!!!
Does is beat a lemon ricotta blueberry waffle?
this is a really good idea for a pizza oven in the morning.
Yes please!
Aaron, you so nailed it with that comment. They both have their merits and are both so versatile.
Nooo...a pancake is just a soggy waffle. Mommas always have a favorite, they just don't tell you!
I like to use maple butter. Melt some butter and syrup (ratios to your taste) and keep warm. Drizzle over pancakes and serve some in a little pot because you will want more.
For me it works better than seperate butter and syrup. And there's no chance of too cold butter to ruin things.
Noooo, mamas don't ALWAYS have a favorite.... Well, actually, they DO. It just changes from day to day.
