BEWARE: My Joule Sous Vide was functioning normally prior to migrating to the Breville app.
Upon first use this year, the Joule app required me to switch to the Breville app. After connecting, the Breville app required a firmware update. Immediately following that update, the device began blinking red and is now non-functional.
I have followed the reset steps provided by support, but the issue persists.
To be clear, the device was working prior to the required app migration and firmware update, and became unusable immediately afterward. This indicates the failure was caused by the update process rather than normal wear or misuse.
I contacted support and was offered a 30–35% discount on a replacement. That is not an acceptable resolution for a device that was rendered inoperable as a direct result of a required software update.
Incidentally, when I googled "Breville bricked my unit" this is what came It appears you are experiencing issues with your Joule after transitioning to the Breville ecosystem, likely due to app migration or a failed firmware update. Many users have reported similar issues where the Joule becomes unresponsive ("bricked") during or after the shift to the Breville app.
It appears I am not the only person this has happened to.
