The "solution" to migrating from ChefSteps to the Breville app is a disaster. The app's user experience is ridiculously overcrowded and unintuitive - "Tokyo at night." And Breville pushing all responsibility onto the Joule owner by requiring a firmware update is abdication of Breville's responsibility toward the product purchaser. If/when our Joule unit no longer functions after April 13, we plan to return the unit to Breville and expect some form of compensation for destroying the functionality of a perfectly useable product purchased for $200 and used for years without a glitch.
Note that up to now we have enjoyed the Breville products we own - toaster, espresso maker, panini grill, etc. – and thus we are beyond disappointed by Breville's unforced error in mismanaging the migration process. All we needed was for our Joule unit to continue functioning via a simple intuitive UI/UX similar to ChefSteps, but this solution will effectively destroy the unit along with our confidence in Breville. Know that, barring some unforeseen outcome, we will not be purchasing Breville products in the future, starting with a new sous-vide unit. Really too bad.
