Piece of Junk
Diane_DALLAS_158565
It will not stay connected to wi-fi, power would not stay on (I had to unplug it to reset it), and the correct temperature did not register. After 3 hours of trying to get it to work, I plugged in my trusty Poly Science unit.

It seems you are having some trouble with the forum as well...
brian_martin2001
have you tried contacting ChefSteps directly?
wolfiegirl
No. That would be logical and too easy.

I can understand her frustrations. However, when folks make posts here about issues they've had with it, there's often a delayed response from ChefSteps. Contacting them directly seems to speed up the process. And, there seems to be a bunch of folks out there that are unaware that they can contact ChefSteps directly.

I think you will find it IS NOT a "piece of junk" If you simply contact Chef Steps directly you will find them incredibly responsive in resolving your problems...have you made such an attempt? or possibly trying this...

You can submit a support request directly to ChefSteps at the top right on this
page
. They are very responsive and I am sure they will take care of any issue you are having.

Yes, I too can understand her frustration. But instead of being so bloody ugly and negative she could have reached out and asked for help/direction and she would have received it without hesitation.

To be fair, people post in the forms that they emailed CS directly about their Joule shipment being delayed and never got a response. I think a bajillion forum posts is the wrong way, but can understand the frustration.

Sorry to hear about the challenges. As a Polyscience owner and Joule owner (x2) My Joules have held up quite well (I was a beta tester) and love both. I see some have pointed you in the direction of he known wifi issue. The majority didn't have this issue (like me) and I suspect yours will be fixed shortly. CS is also a fan of PS and they have used them for years (so they know and respect their competition). They simply wanted to make things better. An I would respectfully submit they have. Some have not had the same luck with their PS unit and have always been treated professionally as well. Neither are junk, nor are the respective companies.

Todd, it was frustrating. I have cooked sous vide with the Poly Science and Annova for years and never had an issue. Also, i am frequently an early adopter and i have never had a faulty unit out of the box ... guess i was due!!! ChefSteps sent me a replacement unit promptly ... the new unit works great ... i am pleased.

Yes, i did and received a new unit.
brian_martin2001
Great! Is it working now?
tshewman
That's great Diane! I'm on my 3rd Anova b/c of issues (unfortunately don't really trust it). The PS power is also good and still use it relatively regularly.
